Correction

Yes, I DO know how to spell birthday.
Apparently Luke and I were so busy and tired on Monday that neither of us realized that I left the "h" out of "birthday" on Braden's superman cake.
That is so awesome!
I'm surprised that Samuel didn't point it out to me when I set the cake on the table.

Oh well.....it tasted good without the "h"!

Just Trying To Get One Shot

Today for a snack, our birthday boy had some blueberries. His little mouth was stained so purple that I just had to get a picture of him.

Trying to get one of his cute little smile, while actually looking at the camera proved to be a little bit difficult today. He was in a bit of a silly mood.

A smile, but no eyes...

Thoughtful, but not what I was going for.....

Nope....

Almost, but you can't really see the blueberry stains....

Such a boy.....

Maybe getting closer.....

Maybe not.....

Oh, so close. Maybe just one more try.....

That'll do.
What a goof ball.

Happy 4th Birthday Braden!

Today my baby turned 4! It just can't be! He is becoming such a little man and I am so blessed to have him in my life. He makes me laugh, he makes me smile, he makes me think, he still snuggles with me, he gives me TONS of hugs and he loves life. It is such a joy to be with him.

So today we celebrated Braden.

He planned the menu for the entire day. We started off with apple cinnamon pancakes and fried eggs. Then he opened his presents (because we had VBS at church right after dinner and he just couldn't wait until lunch). For lunch, hummus and fresh veggies then chocolate cake with white frosting and a Superman design on it. And for dinner Curry Chicken......such a grown up palate for a 4 year old.

It seemed to be a monster truck and Superman birthday this year and he couldn't have been happier.

A monster truck that looks like Superman....does it get any better?

Yes it does.....his very own Superman cape.

The cake and my attempt at decorating. I told Luke that I attempted to be a seamstress (making his cape) and a cake decorator for one event and probably shouldn't have....but Braden is only 4 and he thought it was all perfect (unlike my thoughts on the two projects)

Look at that face. So bright and full of joy. Don't you just want to squeeze him? Happy Birthday B!

Cucumbers Anyone?

Luke and I keep talking about how disappointed we are in our garden. The carrots are not doing well, the romas have blossom end rot and we can't fix them, the peas did not produce much.....were pretty sure it's all just because the soil is so sandy and lacking in nutrients. But really, when I look at it, we are doing pretty well. Especially when it comes to cucumbers!

They are taking over one whole section of the garden. I've done three batches of pickles, given a bunch away and will still pick a large shopping bag full every other day. We'll be eating a lot of pickles this winter!

We have pumpkins and sunflowers thriving in the compost bin

The cantaloupe and watermelon are doing really well. Even growing out the fence and down the hill. They are intertwined so much now that we think we might end up with some sort of a cross between the two by the end of summer.

Some of my tomatoes are starting to turn. There is such a huge difference between the taste of fresh from the garden tomatoes and store bought...they are delicious!

The bag full that I picked this morning. Mostly cucumbers again with a few extra goodies on top.

I've got pictures of our birthday celebration with Braden from today and will post them later tonight. It's been a fun day!
